This short track provides an alternative connection between the Bivvy and Bush Road Tracks, exploring a tall stand of kānuka in Ohinetahi Reserve. The track is very lightly marked on the ground.
From the Bivvy Track, the start of the Kanuka Track is just a couple metres along O'Farrells Track to the south, and is signposted. The track drops quickly down on the true right of a stream under a canopy of kānuka with a rich understorey of broadleaf trees. The track is marked with old red paint and a few red triangles.
Just above a pine block, the track crosses the stream and climbs up a spur and rejoins O'Farrells Track. The start of the Bush Road Track is directly opposite.
