The Bush Road Track sets off from the Crater Rim Walkway. On the Summit Road, locate the twin car parks at the end of the Kennedy's Bush Track, between the Sign of the Bellbird and Hoon Hay Reserve. From the car park on the harbour side, follow the Crater Rim Walkway a couple minutes north to the signposted track start.
The track leads off through a stand of harakeke before zigzagging down a spur. This section of track is narrow and steep. Past a stand of kÅwhai, the track passes a junction with the Duke Street and then South Boundary tracks.
From here, the track bends south and follows the old road itself. The track is wide and level, under forest. Eventually, the road meets the Totara Log Track and bends downhill easily to O'Farrells Track. It ends at O'Farrells Track. A possible loop is to head south west on O'Farrells and return via the Bivvy Track.
