Tarp over camp fire?
are there some good choices for safe tarp or other cover-like materials to hoist over a campfire to keep dry without it melting/damaged?

Someone who used to comment on these forums would use the black PET you can buy at garden stores and pitch it in the 'flying diamond' configuration with the leeward diagonal raised quite high so it wouldn't catch the flames. To pitch it this high, you need a tree nearby as poles wouldn't be high enough.
